Osceola Municipal Light and Power has an immediate opening for a Meter Reader.   Incumbent is responsible to determine the number of kilowatts used by city customers by reading meters and recording data.  Determine the amount of gallons of water used by reading meter and recording date as well as other duties as assigned.

This individual must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Arkansas Driver’s License.  Individual must have the ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, the public and to follow instructions. Experience in the use and operation of computers a plus. Individual must be willing to work in all types of weather conditions including extreme heat, cold, dry and wet.

The City of Osceola currently has an opening for the full-time position of Animal Shelter Assistant. Under the general supervision of the Animal Control Officer performs a variety of duties involving the feeding, care and treatment of all animals at the shelter; catches and transports animals; performs intake duties for animals brought to the shelter; cleans shelter, cages, runs and grounds; feeds, waters, medicates, vaccinates, bathes and cares for animals; assists individuals seeking lost animals or adoptable animals, responds to public inquiries regarding care and treatment of animals as well as animal complaints; assists customers in making pet selections; and performs office clerical and administrative duties as assigned.

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Arkansas driver’s license. Must have ability to effectively communicate with the public, co-workers and to follow instructions. Work experience in the animal control or veterinary field a plus. Salary is DOE upon experience.

Individual must be able to work rotating weekends, on-call and holidays.

The City of Osceola Police Department has an immediate opening for a Matron/Dispatcher. Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, being responsible for receiving and dispatching routine and emergency information; keeping official records; processing and care of female detainees. This position is governed by state and federal laws, emergency protocol procedures and department policy.

 

This individual must have a high school diploma or equivalent. One to three months job related experience and/or training a plus and be a resident of Osceola. Individual must have the ability to communicate with the public in emergency and none emergency situations, ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and inmates. Individual must have ability to operate radios, weather equipment and handle stressful situations. Candidate must also have ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Individual must have ability to perform cashier duties accurately and have working knowledge of computers, modern office practices and equipment.

 

Individual will be required to be “On-Call” during scheduled rotation shift and in emergencies may be called to work on short notice. Individual must be willing to work day and night shifts.

The City of Osceola has an immediate opening for Records Clerk. Must have exceptional organizational skills, a drive to work in a fast-paced environment and skills with computer record management. 

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited:

 

  • Process, file and organize records in both computer and paper filing systems
  • Provide customer service to individuals requesting information while also following guidelines and observing any legal restrictions on information
  • Operate telephone systems to answer and route incoming calls, along with taking and delivering messages.
  • Research records upon request and track information thorough in house system records as well as paper records.
  • Prepare new files and set them up in both the computer and paper systems ensuring all information is complete and all files are
  • Charge, record and process payments or fees by cash, credit card or check for information requests, fine, and bond payments.
  • Enter arrest and citations into computer systems and prepare daily court docket.
  • Maintains time payment records for fines, cost and restitution; disburses restitution to victims; prepares disbursement of fines and costs and cleared bonds for Municipal Court; and reconciles balances and generates reports.
  • Maintains checking account records for bonds, fines, commissary reserves, grants, etc.;
  • Assists in maintaining the Department payroll and issuing citation books to Officers.
  • Applies for, maintains and generates reports for Federal Grants.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned

This individual must have a high school diploma or equivalent and valid driver’s license.  Individual must have excellent typing and computer skill, as well as experience with general office equipment. Must have working experience in an office environment and have strong customer service skills. Experience in booking, clerical or customer service, a plus.  Individual must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
