It has drastically been affecting the nation’s blood supply a s the Red Cross canceled 2700 blood drives over the past week due to corona virus concerns. This translates into over 86,000 uncollected units of blood .  \nOur blood supplies were at Urgent Levels before we started having bloo d drives canceling.  We are looking at a possible emergency level shortage of blood products if we continue to lose blood drives.\nI wanted to share a few of the additional procedures the Red Cross began implementing to prote ct the safety of our donors and volunteers:\n\n - Every Red Cross employee is required to check their temperature prior to coming to work; if it’s abo ve 99.5 degrees, they are not allowed to come to work.
